History: Second baronet, statesman. Prime Minister, 1834-1835 (resigned) and 1841-1846. Other ministerial positions held included Home Secretary (1822-27, 1828-30) and Chancellor of the Exchequer (1834-35). Is best remembered for organising the original London Police Force (1829) and also introduced an income tax (1842).
