Cumberland to Chesterfield: he commends the bearer, Captain Townshend. Although Bathiani fears for Luxembourg, Cumberland believes Saxe's intentions are directed at Breda or Bergen op Zoom. He will demand [the return of] Ligonier and other prisoners as soon as the French prisoners reach Calais. Defence of Maastricht. Bathiani's gratitude for the payment of the subsidy. He encloses an account of the battle [Lauffeldt] and a return of losses. Recommendations for promotions. Dated at headquarters at Heer. ff. 1-3
