Description: |
The emperor's [Joseph I] minister with Marlborough's army to the emperor (copy): he has received Joseph's letter about winter quarters for his troops in Italy and reported his wishes to Marlborough, assuring him that the troops would be employed in the coming year on the upper Rhine and in Brabant. Marlborough wished them to depart from Italy in December. Comparisons with the conditions of the troops of the landgrave of Hesse and King Augustus [of Poland]. If the emperor [Joseph I] were to withdraw his troops, the Dutch and Prince Eugene would have the pretext for making a separate peace. ff.191,192 |
