Marlborough to Boyle: his meetings with generals, ministers and Prince [Eugene] of Savoy. A conference with the states general at which the prince asked for 30,000 men from the low countries for operations on the Rhine and Moselle. The states general wish a squadron to be stationed off Dunkirk.. Marlborough has decided not to accompany Prince Eugene to Hanover. He is concerned that the recruits embarked at Harwich have not arrived. He encloses a proposal by Prince Eugene for sending 5,000 men to Spain and other letters and reports. The French reportedly intend to concentrate against Portugal. Dated at The Hague. ff. 1-3 |
