Marlborough to Count Wartenberg [grand chamberlain of Prussia]: his chagrin at the letter from the king [SP 87/2/191], whose interests he has always served. He has replied hoping that the king will have more regard for the common cause and for his own interests. He cites the queen as an example of disinterested behaviour. He hopes the king will recover from his ill humour and does not intend to write to him again on the subject of the troops. Dated at The Hague. PS. that he does not blame Wartenberg for the king's behaviour. ff. 389, 390 |
