The surviving documents include the manuscript minutes of proceedings of the Committee of the Council on Education, 1839 to 1841; minute book of the secretary of the committee, 1848 to 1871; and papers of the Science and Art Department. Only one manuscript volume of the minutes of the Committee of the Council on Education has survived. Some volumes relate to non-recurrent subjects. This series is neither large nor complete, defies classification, yet contributes to the study of educational history. |
