Files preserved in this series contain complete sets of papers for the meetings of the Advisory Council from 1925 to 1956, and the following from Committees which assisted the Council: the Applications Committee, 1917 to 1927; the Scientific Grants Committee, 1927 to 1956; the Million Fund Committee, 1923 to 1927, and the Industrial Grants Committee, 1927 to 1956.

There are no files for Advisory Council meetings for the period 1915-24

The papers include memoranda and progress reports on research projects, reports from the individual committees, reports from research associations, applications for renewal of grants, and the agenda sheets and approved minutes of each meeting.
