Administrative / biographical background:

The National Blood Service was part of the National Blood Authority. In 2005, the National Blood Authority and UK Transplant merged and formed NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), a Special Health Authority. The National Blood Service has been managed by NHSBT since the merge. In 2007, the National Blood Service began to incorporate the phrase 'Give blood' in a red banner in its webpages within the NHSBT website and eventually rebranded as NHSBT Blood Donation.
