Incorporated under Act passed in 42nd year of George III, chap.155 (Local and Personal) 1802 as Sirhowy Tramroad Company. Under Sirhowy Railway Act of 25th May 1860, name of Company was changed to Sirhowy Railway Company.

Under London & North Western Railway (Sirhowy Railway Vesting) Act of 13th July 1876, company was to be vested in London & North Western Railway Company as and from issue of certificates for debenture stock to be created in substitution for Rent Charge Stock referred to therein, and Sirhowy Railway Company was to be dissolved.

London & North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland & Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
