The Great Western and Brentford Railway Company was originally intended to be called Great Western and Brentford (Thames Junction) Railway Company, but incorporated under their act of 14th August 1855 by name of Great Western & Brentford Railway Company.

The company was leased to Great Western Railway Company by Agreement dated 1st December 1859, and confirmed by Great Western and Brentford Railway (Leasing) Act 19th April 1859.

The company was vested in Great Western Railway Company as from 1st July 1871 by Great Western Railway (Additional Powers) Act 31st July 1871.
