This series mainly consists of files of the Establishment Division of the Ministry of Health relating to the organisation of the department, its predecessors, the Local Government Board and the National Health Insurance Commissioners for England and Wales, and subordinate departments including the Welsh Board of Health, the Board of Control, the Government Lymph Establishment and the General Register Office. The papers also relate to the creation of the Ministry (otherwise in MH 19), emergency arrangements during the General Strike, 1926, and establishment matters generally. Some files continued to be used by the Department of Health and Social Security after its creation in 1968. |
