Catalogue description Metropolitan Police: General Registry: Registers of Correspondence

Registers of policy correspondence for 1880-1908, registers of general correspondence (by subject) for 1913-1919, and registers of correspondence relating to selected criminal cases for 1946-1959, from the Metropolitan Police's General Registry.

It is believed that these registers, compiled by the Noting Sections of the General Registry, were not created on a continuing basis: no other volumes of their kind are known to survive. They refer to correspondence of the Commissioner's Office which, if preserved, is now in:
