Description:

Files of the various divisions of the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food dealing with food standards and food labelling, including standards of hygiene in food processing. The series deals mainly with the administration of the Food and Drugs Act 1955 in respect of additives, contaminants, preservatives and labelling. Many files in this series concern the preparation of regulations for particular foodstuffs under this act and the reports, minutes and papers of the Food Standards Committee, its sub-committees, panels etc appear in numerous files. Also in this series are files relating to co-operation or relations with other organisations concerned with food standards, such as the Ministry of Health and the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission.
