Date: 1995-2001
History: Formed in April 1995, with responsibilities for non-nuclear scientific research, evaluation, trials and development for the Ministry of Defence. DERA is an Agency of the MOD and its Chief Executive derives his authority from the Secretary of State for Defence. Its largest division is the DEfence Research Agency (DRA) which prior to 1995 had existed as an agency in its own right. In July 2001, renamed as the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.
